this is a portfolio for marine science, please private message me if u can help????? plz?????
For Day One: Describe one of the tools that as a scientist, you would use aboard the HMS Challenger. Include how the instrument is used, and describe what types of organisms or samples were recovered using the instrument. For Day Two: You have the day off today! Describe what types of activities you participated in on board the ship with your other shipmates. Include a description of at least one full meal that you and your shipmates ate that day. Describe how you feel being onboard the ship for such an extended period of time. For Day Three: Uh-oh!! You are sick!! Describe what type of illness you have, what symptoms you have, how you might have gotten the illness and any possible remedies to the illness that might have been available aboard a ship in the 1850s.

\(Tool:~dredging\) The Challenger crew found it easier to use trawls, rather than the heavier and more awkward dredges, when collecting life from the bottom. The Challenger dredges were between 3 and 5 feet in width and were just metal nets shaped into bags. A piece of tightly woven cloth in the bottom of the bag trapped small animals and samples of mud. The swabs, or "tangles," attached to the bottom of the dredge were standard Navy-issue mops that were very good at sweeping up smaller organisms. \(Tool: Trawls \) Trawls were rugged metal nets used at a variety of depths to collect larger animals. The Challenger crew found it easier to use trawls, rather than the heavier and more awkward dredges, when collecting life from the bottom. \(Tools: ~Nets \)Nets of different size and mesh were the primary tool aboard Challenger for collecting living samples from all depths of the ocean. A tow net was attached at various depths on the sounding line, and collected both floating and slow-swimming life forms. \(Are~you~looking~for~these~?\) @Ilovepurple42043

\(Disease :~Scurvy\) Scurvy is a disease resulting from a deficiency of vitamin C. Scurvy often presents initially with fatigue, followed by formation of spots on the skin, spongy gums, and bleeding from the mucous membranes. Spots are most abundant on the thighs and legs, and a person may look pale, feel depressed, and be partially immobilized. As scurvy advances, there can be open, suppurating wounds, loss of teeth, yellow skin, fever, neuropathy and finally death from bleeding
Scurvy was at one time common among sailors, pirates and others aboard ships at sea longer than perishable fruits and vegetables could be stored (subsisting instead only on cured and salted meats and dried grains) and by soldiers similarly deprived of these foods for extended periods.
