Camilaaaaa a a a a This is for online? :O Are we allowed guesses? I have an idea, but I'm not totally sure if it's right :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have choices hold on

zepdrix (zepdrix):

1/4 a choice? :D

zepdrix (zepdrix):

oo oo ok.. let's see if this makes sense.

zepdrix (zepdrix):

I'm thinking of it like this... in terms of differentials, \[\large\rm y=3x^2+1\]Find instantaneous rate of change,\[\large\rm dy=6x\cdot dx\]At x=2, y has a rate of change of 3 (meaning dy=3). Plug these values in and solve for dx, the rate of change of x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah I get 1/4 also just don't know if its increasing or decreasing

zepdrix (zepdrix):

If the idea of differentials is confusing, you can instead take derivative the normal way that you're used to.\[\large\rm \frac{dy}{dx}=6x\]And hten sort of uhh... "multiply" the dx to the other side.

zepdrix (zepdrix):

It's a positive value, I would imagine it's increasing. Hmm, thinking.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah I would assume since its positive that It would be increasing

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Ya let's go with that \c:/ hehe

Okay thank you!!
