which of the following matrices are in row=reduced form? can anyone help me with matrices?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what are your matixes?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

and, how does your course define row reduced form?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1line 1: 1,0|-9 line 2: 0,1 | 2 2. line 1: -,1|-9 line 2: 1,0 | 2 3. line 1: 1,0,-9|2 line 2: 0,1,0 | -3 I am pretty sure only the first one is in reduced form.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

there are 2 terms; row reduced; and row reduced echelon

OpenStudy (amistre64):

echelon means stairsteps ... its when the bottom left is all zeros a b c d 0 e f g 0 0 0 h

OpenStudy (amistre64):

1 is in row reduced form, but why would you discard the other 2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 does not have a leading 1 and a zero after ad the second line should be 0,1 and number three has a -9 in it which should be a 0.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

your definition is prolly has a leading 1 in every row, and that 1 is the only nonzero number in its column

OpenStudy (amistre64):

rows 1 and 2 have leading 1s, and they are the only number in their column ... the -9 simply doesnt have a 'row' that it could have a leading 1 to be placed.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

does that make any sense?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

r1; [1] 0 -9 2 r2; 0 [1] 0 -3 r1 has a leading 1, and its the only number in its column r2 has a leading 1, and its the only number in its column there are no more rows to compare in order to discount -9, 2, or 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sow r1 and r2 are in reduced form?
