OpenStudy (vera_ewing):
Pretty sure this one is either a or b
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Why do you think it's A or B?
OpenStudy (vera_ewing):
I used desmos to graph the functions, and A and B looked closest. I jus can't tell which one.

OK. But we have to actually work things out and not go by the looks of a desmos graph. (the choice of scale can distort things)
OpenStudy (vera_ewing):
Ok
OpenStudy (anonymous):
For example, one of the points on the given graph is (-2, 1). See it?
OpenStudy (vera_ewing):
Yes
OpenStudy (anonymous):
OK. Try substituting x=-2 into the given functions and see which ones return 1 for f(x).

C does right?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Not quite\[f(x) = |-2-2| = |-4| = 4\]
OpenStudy (vera_ewing):
Oh wait D does right?
OpenStudy (carolinar7):
no
OpenStudy (carolinar7):
oH WAIT I THINK IT IS

That's right. Well done. Desmos can be a help, but you mustn't rely on it entirely.
OpenStudy (vera_ewing):
So the answer is D?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Correct.
OpenStudy (carolinar7):
Yes because the 1/2 does the recipical, so x2 and multiplies the value of x by 2
