a resting 164g hockey puck is hit with a force of 15.3N. The frictional force slowing down the puck is 1N. Find the net horizontal force acting on the puck while the stick is in contact with the puck. Ans) i'm guessing the net force exerting on the puck will be the same 15.3N because as long as the force is being contineously supply to the object, the object will keep going at the speed of the force being applied by the subject.
@ganeshie8
As soon as the puck and the stick(i assume) are apart, the static force starts to work against the kinetic force.
so i guess the horizontal force acting on the puck would be 15.3N? O_o
Friction always acts against the direction of motion |dw:1442961004430:dw|
so the net force should be 15.3 + (-1) = 14.3 N
yes indeed but the question asks me to "Find the net horizontal force acting on the puck "while the stick is in contact".
