Find v(w + 3) for v(w) = 2w - 1.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

v(w+3) = 2w+5 Can someone tell me if this is right ?

zepdrix (zepdrix):

\[\large\rm v(\color{orangered}{w}) = 2(\color{orangered}{w}) - 1\]So they want us to evaluate this function at the location w+3. So instead of plugging 2 into the function, we'll plug w+3 in.\[\large\rm v(\color{orangered}{w+3}) = 2(\color{orangered}{w+3}) - 1\]So you distributed the 2, and 6-1 gave you the 5? Yay good job \c:/

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Instead of plugging w* into the function blah typo
