OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the degree of the polynomial 5pq^2-3p^6+5p^6q^3-6p^3q^5???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

add up the exponents on each term. For example the first term is 5pq². The p's exponent is 1, the q's exponent is 2. So the degree of that term is 1 + 2 = 3. Do that for every term and the highest one is the degree of the whole polynomial.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the degree is 19?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how did you get 19?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

add all of them o.0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you have to do them separately and then take the highest

OpenStudy (anonymous):

p=11 and q=8???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

each term, like this|dw:1443112440593:dw|
