the second equation tells you that y EQUALS 3x+7 SO Go to the first equation - and wherever there is a y you can write 3x+7 when you do that you can see that there is only x in the new equation - so you can work out x Do that first...

yes- good now distribute the 3 into th ebracket - and collect 'like terms' together
