Social, political, and economic consequences of the second industrial revolution.

Social: For the first time since the Neolithic Revolution, people worked outside of the local environment of their homes. Rising every morning, they traveled to the area that they worked, most often being a factory due to the surplus of machinery. Wealth was also a large variable still, capitalists being the ideal rich title. Owning any shares of factories/companies automatically placed you as a capitalist and practically assured you as one of the elite within society. The lower classes of society were largely targeted due to Thomas Malthus' essay "The Principles of Population" which discussed the large impact of growth of the population. Targeting the lower classes for increasing the birth rates and having too many children, many followed suit in his beliefs. Malthus even went as far as to argue for laws limiting the amount of children one of a lower class could have.

Political: Due to the largely increase within population, as I discussed before, there were many political viewpoints and perspectives among Americans regarding Malthus' theory. The poor seemed to be further excluded from the elite, being seen as lessors and parasites within the economy. Political shifts were formed and many political parties forming ideas regarding the population's growth, attributed by the Industrial Revolution.

Economic Consequences: The economy expanded outward at such a large and heightened degree due to the surplus of goods and the ability to craft and move them at a much more speedy pace. Profit inflated due to this rapid expansion aswell.
