In the figure above, point B lies on line A C. If x and y are integers, which of the following is a possible value of x?
the sum of all angles on a straight line should add up to 180 degrees
and the question says that x and y are integers (not fractions)
oh ok but im confused bc the line in the middle doesnt interesect evenly so it isnt 90 on both sides u feel
no no... it dosent matter if the middle line is 90 or not
can you under stand how i got this equation 3y + x =180
i tried doing it like that but i couldn't solve the equation
you cant "solve" it. there are infinite possibilities for x and y. The trick here is that the question is asking you for only "integer values" of x and y. They have given you several options for the value of "y". so your job is to substitute the value of "y" from each option, and solve the equation "x" , and see which option gives you an integer value for x. only one option gives an integer value, the other give fractions.
i'm sorry, the have given you options for "x", so substitute and solve for "y"
oh i got it now i didnt see it like that ty
sure :)
