"-ing" endings in English forms gerunds. This is an impersonal verb form. That exists in Spanish too: gerundios. In this language, gerunds are formed by: -ando, -iendo. It depends on the infinitive ending: -ar, -er, -ir. Gerunds can be verbs and adverbs, and some times you can see them as adjectives, but this is a gramatically incorrect use. This topic has a little big explanation. You can used with haber, estar and other auxiliary verbs. Here you can see some examples with gerunds as verb: caminar: caminando correr: corriendo salir: saliendo You can see when you need which ending. Ella había estado caminando. Ellos estuvieron corriendo. Anteriormente él estuvo saliendo temprano del trabajo. Gerunds as adverb: Yo vine corriendo. Tú llegas gritando.
