Is the next step to solving this equation to divide 40 by 4.
OpenStudy (xxmuslimxx):
Yes, please.
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
what does PEMDAS stand for @XxMuslimxX
OpenStudy (anonymous):
alright so it is 40/4(3)^3 right?

Yes...
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
good
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
so the first thing you do is parenthesis
after that is exponents
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
there's not much to do with parenthesis, so we move onto exponents
3^3 = ???
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh haha jims got this.. ill be on stand by for the moment

you're fine @atreyu6s3x6 go ahead and continue what you're writing
OpenStudy (xxmuslimxx):
Well, it doesn't ask to solve the problem....
OpenStudy (xxmuslimxx):
The problem asks me if dividing 40 by 4 the next step.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
wait well what is the entire question? @XxMuslimxX
OpenStudy (xxmuslimxx):
The next step in simplifying this expression is to divide 40 by 4. True, or False?

It's False, right?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
correct its false due to PEMDAS
jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):
well if you follow PEMDAS explicitly, then
P comes first. P for parenthesis. There's nothing to do with parenthesis
E comes next, E for exponents. We compute 3^3 to get 27
so the next step should be turning 3^3 into 27. The division part comes later
