3 rate of change problems: 1. A particle is moving along the parabola y^2= 4(x+6). As the particle passes through the point (10, 8), the rate of change of its y-coordinate is 3 units per second. How fast, in units per second, is the x-coordinate changing at this instant? 2. A 15-foot ladder is leaning against a vertical wall. If the bottom of the ladder is being pulled away from the wall at the rate of 7 feet per second, at what rate is the area of the triangle formed by the wall, the ground, and the ladder changing, in square feet per second, at the instant the bottom of the ladder is 9 feet from the wall? 3. Water is leaking from the bottom of a canonical cup that is 6 inches across and 8 inches deep. Given that the cup loses 0.9 inches of water per minute, at what rate is the water level changing when the water is 4 inches deep?
