Imagine that an entire forest is wiped out by a large fire. How would this affect the cycling of carbon?

I think it will increase the CO2 amount in air. A slight imbalance of CO2 in air will be a result. Carbon is taken in by plants (in the form of CO2) for photosynthesis. If the forest is burned and the tree are wiped out, the intake of or the usage of CO2 will be reduced. . And also the burning of trees will give out CO2 to the atmosphere.

Unless it was a huge forest, it would have little to no effect on the carbon cycle when viewed from a global stand point. I would focus on local changes or short terms changes.
