find k and L given that (K,L ) is equidistant from the lines 4x-2y=15 and x-2y=5, and also equidistant from the lines x+y=6 and x=y

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

tough question, do you know the formula for the distance from a point to a line..?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{ Ax+By-c }{ \sqrt{(A^2+B^2)} }\]

OpenStudy (danjs):

yeah, do you have to show how to get that distance from some point to a line?

OpenStudy (danjs):

think i remember doing those with vectors in calc 3

OpenStudy (danjs):

I just graphed the two line pairs... looking at it, the solutions for each pair to keep equal distance from the two lines, seem to be maybe the dotted lines that bisect the vertical angles those intersect at some points
