OpenStudy (emmynimmy):

Which is the exponential regression equation?

OpenStudy (emmynimmy):

OpenStudy (aaronq):

Look here, near the bottom of the page http://www.zweigmedia.com/RealWorld/calctopic1/regression.html

OpenStudy (emmynimmy):

I need to know how to do it. I've tried everything.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

The general form of the exponential function is \(y=Ar^x\) if you take the logarithm of all the y values, you get a straight line. \(log(y)=m*x+b\) find the slope (m) and the intercept (b). then \(r=10^m\) and \(A=10^b\)

OpenStudy (aaronq):

so the slope is \(m=\dfrac{log(y_2)-log(y_1)}{x_2-x_1}\) can you find \(b\)?

OpenStudy (emmynimmy):

y = 3.807 1.042x ?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

sorry, i'm not getting notifications. so i kept getting weird values, so i graphed it on excel with \((x,~log(y))\) coordinates. i got y = 0.0177x + 0.5691 so \(\sf r=10^{0.0177}=1.041597671\) and \(\sf A=10^{0.5691}=3.70766084\) so the equation is \(\sf y=3.71*1.042^x\) which is very close to the last option
