MEDAL!!! Help with factoring quadratic expressions... (question will be posted below)
\[6x^2 + 24x - 462\]
@jim_thompson5910
Factor out 6 first
6(x^2+4x-77)
Bet you can get it from there can't you?
i found the factors of 462: 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 11, 14, 21, 22, 33, 42, 66, 77, 154, 231, 462 but i need to find tow factors that when combined will be 24
*two
use what @Mertsj said
Factor out 6 first
okay. and after that?
6 times (x+11) times (x-7)
i still don't understand... @Mertsj
6x2+24x−462 can be simplified to 6(x2+4x-77) Then x2+4x-77 can be made into (x+11)(x-7) Then add the 6 from before 6(x+11)(x-7)
oh okay ... i understand it much better now. :) thanks @CasidyCat
The end simplification is basically that you had two find two factors of 77 that added up to 4. This will work on most. :)
