Is the given linear expression a factor of the polynomial? h(x) = x^4 - 4x^3 - 15x^2 + 58x - 40; x-5

this should help... https://mathway.com/

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

just use the factor theorem so if x - 5 is a factor there will be a zero remainder. so x - 5 = 0 then x = 5 is a possible zero of the polynomial. to then find h(5) by substituting into the polynomial. if h(5) = 0 then x - 5 is a factor hope it helps
