Anyone know the answer to this? http://prntscr.com/8oszs0
\(\large\color{black}{ \displaystyle f(x)=-5x }\) when you compress the function vertically by 1/a, you divide by a: \(\large\color{black}{ \displaystyle f(x)=-(5/a)x }\) and when you reflect across the x-axis, you multiply the entire function times -1.
just mutliply the function times -1, and tell me the answer.
3f(3x) = -15/3a)3x ??? No idea how to do this. Like, at all.
@SolomonZelman
-(5/a)x times (-1) is (5/a)x.
and this is it.
Whoops! I multiplied by 3 for some reason.
\(\large\color{black}{ \displaystyle f(x)=-5x }\) when you compress the function vertically by 1/4, you divide by 4: \(\large\color{black}{ \displaystyle {~~~~~~~~}=-(5/4)x }\) and when you reflect across the x-axis, you multiply the entire function times -1. \(\large\color{black}{ \displaystyle {~~~~~~~~}=(5/4)x }\)
Gotcha. So would the answer be D, by chance?
Yes, it is D.
Thanks!
