You have to first see if the trait is dominant or recessive. Depending on that only.

1) When both of the parental genes are recessive that is yy and yy
Then ur offsprings will be yy to right?
2) YY and yy
Then u will get heterozygous offsprings. That gene is Yy
3) Yy yy
There u will get 2 homozygous offspring yy and and 2 heterozygous offsprings Yy
4) YY and YY
Here all ur offsprings would be homozygous dominant YY
5) Yy and Yy
There u get YY , two of Yy and one yy
Y- is the dominant
y- is the recessive
