If you wanted to be certain that a trait would appear in the offspring of the plants or animals that you were breeding, what would you have to find out about the parents? Explain your answer.

@Rushwr

OpenStudy (rushwr):

You have to first see if the trait is dominant or recessive. Depending on that only.

OpenStudy (rushwr):

Usually we have 4 situation right? 1) When both of the parental genes are recessive that is yy and yy Then ur offsprings will be yy to right? 2) YY and yy Then u will get heterozygous offsprings. That gene is Yy 3) Yy yy There u will get 2 homozygous offspring yy and and 2 heterozygous offsprings Yy 4) YY and YY Here all ur offsprings would be homozygous dominant YY 5) Yy and Yy There u get YY , two of Yy and one yy Y- is the dominant y- is the recessive Hope u get this. U get all the results from the punnet square though
