@haleyelizabeth2017

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

focus on the fraction part for now do you know how to add 11/12 and 1/4 together?

OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):

umm part the denominators the same number?

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

right, so rewrite 1/4 so that the denominator is 12

OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):

um idk how

OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):

well i forgot how actually

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

ok, what number do you have to multiply by 4 to get 12?

OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):

umm 3 right?

OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):

@Vocaloid ?

OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):

@haleyelizabeth2017 ??

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

good, so now we convert 1/4 to twelfths by multiplying the numerator and the denominator by 3

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

1/4 = 3/12

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

so 3/12 + 11/12 = ?

OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):

3+11=14/12 ?

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

good, now we convert that back into a mixed number 14/12 = 1 and 2/12 = 1 and 1/6 now add in the 10 and the 7 from the original problem and you're done.

OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):

um how? :/

OpenStudy (rainbow_rocks03):

@Vocaloid !!??
