Help with finding equation of a line

OpenStudy (brandonw998):

OpenStudy (brandonw998):

I can't figure out how to find the y-intercept because it's a decimal. The y-intercept has to be in a fraction

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

first, we pick a point on the line that isn't on a decimal (2,1) looks good now we plug them into the equation y = mx + b where x = 2, y = 1, m = slope = (-2/3), and b is the y intercept

OpenStudy (brandonw998):

Once I put it all together I get -0.33333333333, how do I put it in fraction form?

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

hm, take a look at the graph, the y-intercept should be positive

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

1 = (-2/3)*2 + b solve for b

OpenStudy (brandonw998):

Oops I think I did it wrong :(

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

start by finding (-2/3)*2

OpenStudy (brandonw998):

It equals -1.33333333

OpenStudy (brandonw998):

Then once I add it to 1 I get 2.333333333

OpenStudy (brandonw998):

So how do I make that into a fraction?

Vocaloid (vocaloid):

7/3

OpenStudy (brandonw998):

How did you do that?

OpenStudy (brandonw998):

I figured it out, Thanks Ms. Hatsune Miku!
