What is the solution of 5a + 12 < 2 and 5a - 12 < 3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Leong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Would I subtract 5 from each side for the first one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

on the equation that have + 12 then you subtract both side with 12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

on the equation that have -12 then you add 12 for both side

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So subtract 12 from 12 and 5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

let's me do it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5a + 12 < 2 and 5a - 12 < 3 - 12 -12 + 12 +12 5a < -10 and 5a <15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ah okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

next :v on both of the equation, you divide 5 for both side :) cuz it the same and both 5 are positive so you don't have to change < or > this time :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So would it be 1a<-2 and 1a <3 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup :3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yay! Thanks (:
