Using the completing-the-square method, find the vertex of the function f(x) = 2x^2 − 8x + 6 and indicate whether it is a minimum or a maximum and at what point. (I know the coordinates, I just want to know if it's maximum or minimum)

OpenStudy (welshfella):

the coefficient of x^2 (2) is positive so the vertex is a minimum a negative coefficient indicates a maximum

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So whenever the coefficient is positive, it's minimum?

OpenStudy (welshfella):

yes (the coefficient of x^2)

Thank you so much!
