I am currently in a debate with my english teacher about the proper usage of the ornate in a sentence. The sentence is: My house was already ORNATE for the holidays. Is that correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (misty1212):

really? how can you be "ornate" for something?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ornate means "highly decorated", so if I substituted the definition of ornate for the word, then it would make complete sense. "My house was already highly decorated for the holidays"

I'm not really sure, but I found a list of sentences with "ornate" in them http://sentence.yourdictionary.com/ornate
