hero (hero):

How'd you come up with-2 for the slope?

OpenStudy (nevermind_justschool):

I kinda don't know.

hero (hero):

There are several different ways to come up with the slope. The easiest way in this case is to compute the rise/run

OpenStudy (nevermind_justschool):

Okay. How do I do that, what's the equation?

hero (hero):

I'll try to explain. One moment.

OpenStudy (nevermind_justschool):

Y= 2/3x ?

hero (hero):

plot two convenient points on the line In this case, the origin and (1,-5). Then, starting at the origin ' count five units down. That's your rise. It's a RISE in the NEGATIVE direction. Then count one unit to the right. That's a RUN of one unit. So m= rise/run =-5/1 =-5

OpenStudy (nevermind_justschool):

Okay...That makes sense.

hero (hero):

Awesome. There are other methods to calculate the slope but that's the graphical (EASIEST) method.

Thank you so much!
