Can Someone see if I did this right? The functions q and r are defined as follows. q(x)=-x+1 r(x)=-2x^2-1 Find the value of r(q(2) r(x)=-2(2)^2-1 is r=-9 replace the -9 in the other equation q(-9)=-9+1 which gave me 0.88889

OpenStudy (flvskidd):

I'm doing the same thing in math right now hold up.

OpenStudy (teller):

Alright...

OpenStudy (flvskidd):

Okay so the q goes in the middle. It would be 1(2x^2-1)

OpenStudy (flvskidd):

This is inverse functions right? I haven't started with exponents yet in the functions.

OpenStudy (teller):

No it's Composition of two Functions

OpenStudy (flvskidd):

Oh I might have an answer sorry.

OpenStudy (flvskidd):

So yeah as far as I know all you have to do is put the one on the outside of 2x^2-1 and do the distributive property.

OpenStudy (flvskidd):

Here is an example from my H.W.

OpenStudy (flvskidd):

Maybe this will help you.
