Why might the model of the atom change in the future? A. Scientists are not able to see the atom, so all atomic models are a guess. B. The components of an atom differ from atom to atom and scientists have not discovered all the variations. C. The components that make up an atom can change over time. D. As new discoveries about the atom are made, scientists must update the atomic model.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A and D seem like good answers.. I think it's A though because only until the recent past have we been able to see down to the atom itself. All previous information about atoms have been due to observations of atomic behavior, which leads us to make conclusions about the atom itself. But D also makes sense so I'm not 100% sure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's not scientific to say "a guess" though because that term is misleading. It's not just a guess, they are scientific observations that lead to conclusions, which are supported by noticeable behaviors.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmm, maybe it is D then. Like I said I'm not 100% sure.

OpenStudy (irishboy123):

yep, i'd go D too, even though that is also badly worded and arguably just a re-hash of the question itself :p
