Yx-5y=15 What is the x-intercept? Show your work. What is the y-intercept? Show your work.

@haleyelizabeth2017

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

Wait...It's Yx?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that \[Yx\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

You put Yx lol

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

is it supposed to be 6x...7x...?

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

To find the x-intercept, set y equal to zero:\[4x-5(0)=15\]and solve for x. That is where it intersects the x-axis.

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

And for the y-intercept, it's the same thing, but set x to zero:\[4(0)-5y=15\]and solve for y. That is where it intersects the y-axis.

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

@0Anna0

OpenStudy (haleyelizabeth2017):

We're basically left with:\[4x=15\]and \[-5y=15\] divide both sides of 4x=15 by 4 to get \[x=\frac{15}{4}\]divide both sides of -5y=15 by -5 to get \[y=-3\] Those are the intercepts.

Sorry had to walk my aunts dog so a intercept can be a fraction? Cool! Thanks
