http://prntscr.com/8rhpwn Is the answer to this V? http://prntscr.com/8rhq5t http://prntscr.com/8rhqgu
@Directrix
The x-axis would be the horizontal axis. V points to the origin. Y points to the positive y-axis but I think Y is meant to point to the entire Y axis. See what you think.
would it be U
U is the y-axis. We are naming the x-axis.
The only possible match for the x-axis that I see is Y.
so it would be Y because its pointing at the x axis isnt it
so it would be Y because its pointing at the x axis isnt it YES
Any set of ordered pairs is a relation. For a relation to also be a function, no x value in the relation can be paired with the same y value for that x. In the chart, each x is paired with a different y. The relation is also a function.
so it would be both a function and a relation?
Correct.
The third set of ordered pairs are shown as a mapping. That is another way to show which x goes with which y. It is a relation. Look at the 6 in the drawing. 6 is paired with 0 AND also with 4. That violates the function rule that a given x (6 in this case) cannot be paired with 2 different y values for that x (in this case, 0 and 4). The mapping is not a function.
What did you get as the answer?
