How to find sin^2x - cos^2x = 0

OpenStudy (freckles):

hello

OpenStudy (freckles):

do you know that sin^2(x)+cos^2(x)=1?

OpenStudy (freckles):

add these equations together giving you 2 sin^2(x)=1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But it's subtracting.. I missed class and I'm kinda lost with trig equations

OpenStudy (freckles):

what? I don't understand what you are saying ...

OpenStudy (freckles):

Did you not understand what I meant by adding the equations...

OpenStudy (freckles):

sin^2(x)-cos^2(x)=0 is the equation you have sin^2(x)+cos^2(x)=1 is an identity -------------------- I added the equations together 2sin^2(x)+0=1 2sin^2(x)=1 <---you just have to solve this one now

Ooooohhh, gotcha.!
