OpenStudy (escamer):

How many packages of three donuts do you need if you want to give two donuts to each of 24 people?

OpenStudy (escamer):

@Deadly_Roses

OpenStudy (escamer):

That's what I'm trying to figure out, but I cant find the answer

OpenStudy (deadly_roses):

24 divided by three is 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

double it

OpenStudy (escamer):

What if it was a dozen donuts each package??

zepdrix (zepdrix):

You still stuck on this one? :) `2 donuts to each person` `24 people` So how many donuts is that `in total`?

OpenStudy (escamer):

Hmm, that would have to be a dozen. xD I'm so stupid lol

zepdrix (zepdrix):

No. If we were giving each person `half a donut` then `half a donut` times `24 people` is 24 half donuts. Which is 12 full donuts, which is a dozen. We don't want to give them half a donut though, they want 2 each.

OpenStudy (escamer):

Exactly

zepdrix (zepdrix):

`2 donuts` times `24 people` = how many donuts?

OpenStudy (escamer):

48

zepdrix (zepdrix):

K good, that's step 1. 48 donuts in total. Now you want to divide that total into portions of 3. 48 / 3 = ?

OpenStudy (escamer):

16

zepdrix (zepdrix):

So we've found out that we would need 16 `packages of 3`. Yay good job \c:/

OpenStudy (escamer):

:o The question seems hard until you break it down...

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Word problems can be difficult at first. It will take a little while to understand when you should multiply, when you should add, or divide, based on the wording. Practice more!! :)

OpenStudy (escamer):

Thanks for the help!! ^-^
