so what is a participle phrase?
It is a phrase that modifies a noun I believe.. or verb.
yea, so now where are there some adjectives modifying nouns in that sentence?
I guess he modifies laughing...am I right?
YUP
no, you need to have an adjective. check this out "The participial phrase is always used as an adjective phrase to modify a noun or pronoun. It includes the participle together with its modifiers, objects, or predicate words. The present participle form always ends in -ing, but the endings for past perfect and passive perfect participles may vary." https://www.sinclair.edu/centers/tlc/pub/handouts_worksheets/grammar_punctuation_writing/phrase_participial.pdf

laughing modifies he, you were close just a dyslexic moment.
I actually tried to look at some examples of participle phrase but i get confused because the examples are showing phrases, not one word in particular.
well, that's cause it isn't one word in particular
the phrase describes something about the noun(usually the subject)
Well if I were to modify the sentence it would be "Laughing at the question" and a noun is a person, place, or thing, so I'd think it would be he or head. But thank you. :) I get it now.
who is good in science
??
that doesn't modify the sentence. It modifies the subject of the sentence in this situation
ask yourself, who is laughing at the question?
he is
and that is how you find your noun
So its kind of like and IO or DO...
(indirect object or direct object)
uhm, sure? I'm not an english major. I forget what those are
