Why is Hammurabi's Code important? A. It was the first time any ruler or society attempted to use written law that applied to everyone. B. It was a major step forward for civilization because it protected the weak from the strong. C. Hammurabi based his code of law on the religious principles of the Sumerians. D. Many of the laws in use today come from Hammurabi's Code.

it was important as it organized the most civilized empire at that times , and Hammurabi made many copies of it and distributed them in the most important cities of the empire , so it represent a great progress to the human civilization , as a group of laws became organizing people life instead of Forest laws . it was the most important and famous codes all over the world . and its basis was ( an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth ) which is a famous basis in the Torah also . Hammurabi was the sixth Amorites ( Babylonian king ) 1795 - 1750 B.C. it was created ca 1760 B.C , but his Obelisk was found in Susa in southern west of Iran as the Elamites took it as plunder to their country . now it is in the Louvre , Paris
