OpenStudy (misty1212):

HI!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

HI! Haha

OpenStudy (misty1212):

rate of change = slope of line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I like know how to do these, but this one in particular Im not understanding.

OpenStudy (misty1212):

\[\frac{175-145}{4}\] in other words

OpenStudy (misty1212):

ok i got that backwards

OpenStudy (misty1212):

he lost weight \[\frac{145-175}{4}\] should be negative

OpenStudy (misty1212):

units are "pounds per month"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So then it will be -30/4

OpenStudy (misty1212):

yeah, you might want to reduce the fraction or write as a decimal so i makes more sense

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So its just asking how much weight he lost in 4 month period?

OpenStudy (misty1212):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So he lost 30 pounds in 4 months?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh

OpenStudy (misty1212):

he lost 30 pounds in 4 months it is asking for the "average rate of change" i.e. "pounds per month"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So 7.5 pounds each month? Well 7 1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hello? Is that right?
