OpenStudy (crazyelephant):

find the product 3/4 times 12. A:1/16 B: 1/9 C:6 D:9 Please help!!!

OpenStudy (pinkcandyrosez882):

Okay so is that the fraction 3/4 or 3 divided by 4?

OpenStudy (crazyelephant):

3/ 4

OpenStudy (pinkcandyrosez882):

Okay. So, to make a whole number like 8 a fraction, you put a 1 under it like this: 8/1. So after that the problem should look like this: 3/4 x 8/1

OpenStudy (crazyelephant):

ok Thank you!!!

OpenStudy (pinkcandyrosez882):

Oops sorry I don't know where I got 8 sorry :( Thanks @like1234

OpenStudy (pinkcandyrosez882):

@like1234 is correct

OpenStudy (crazyelephant):

your good

OpenStudy (crazyelephant):

can you help with another?

OpenStudy (pinkcandyrosez882):

Thanks and I can try to help but @like1234 might be better lol as you can see

OpenStudy (crazyelephant):

Which expression is equivalent to 2/3 / 5/6 A:5/6 times 2/3 B:2/3 times 5/6 C:3/2 times 6/5 D:2/3 times 6/5

OpenStudy (like1234):

thx @pinkcandyrosez882

OpenStudy (pinkcandyrosez882):

Yw :)

OpenStudy (like1234):

k so @crazyelephant the first thing u do is slove the problem they gave u

OpenStudy (like1234):

2/3 times 5/6 equals 10/8

OpenStudy (like1234):

then u divide 10/8

OpenStudy (pinkcandyrosez882):

I think it's a division because there's another "/" in there sorry

OpenStudy (like1234):

oh

OpenStudy (pinkcandyrosez882):

So I would think the one with the reciprocal in it would be the one idk what do you think? sorry

OpenStudy (like1234):

woops didnt see that

OpenStudy (pinkcandyrosez882):

It's okay as you saw I pretty much made up a number with the first problem

OpenStudy (like1234):

um ok so you divide 2/3 ÷ 5/6

OpenStudy (crazyelephant):

yes

OpenStudy (like1234):

which equals 12/15

OpenStudy (pinkcandyrosez882):

The reciprocal (the second fraction then flipped over) is 6/5 right?

OpenStudy (like1234):

?

OpenStudy (like1234):

i think u just start solving the options they gave 2 find the one that equals that answer

OpenStudy (like1234):

maybe im wrong

OpenStudy (pinkcandyrosez882):

When you do a division problem with fractions, you first should flip the second number and then multiply. (It's required basically) But yeah @like1234 that sounds okay

OpenStudy (like1234):

ok

OpenStudy (pinkcandyrosez882):

Or something like that

OpenStudy (like1234):

so a equals 10/18 witch does not mach with our answer

OpenStudy (like1234):

b equals 10/18

OpenStudy (pinkcandyrosez882):

I think D is it what do you guys think? (D is basically a step in the division problem anyway and it has the reciprocal)

OpenStudy (like1234):

ya d is the correct answer

OpenStudy (like1234):

im sure @crazyelephant got it on how 2 solve the problem right?

OpenStudy (crazyelephant):

Ok thanks guys

OpenStudy (like1234):

np

OpenStudy (pinkcandyrosez882):

sorry if I'm was not making sense lol

OpenStudy (like1234):

no u were right when it was division adn not multiplication

OpenStudy (like1234):

u did make sense everyone messes up sometime
