Y=3x+5 3x-6y=0

OpenStudy (rccb):

is there supposed to be something between the 5 and 3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No its a substitution problem

OpenStudy (rccb):

ahh

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Y = 3x+5 so put that in for Y in the 2nd equation. 3x-6(3x+5) = 0. so -6(3x+5) = -18x - 30. Whole equation is 3x - 18x - 30. This equals -15x - 30 = 0. Plus 30 from both sides. -15x = 30. Now divide -15 from both sides. x= 30/-15 = -2. X=-2. Now substitute this into the first equation. Y=3(-2)+5. -6+5 = -1. Y = -1
