Help!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

^^

OpenStudy (ghostgate):

Alright, when it comes to exponents you subtract and add, however... in this case you wouldn't have (2^-5)^-15, that would result in something way bigger than 2^-15. When you use exponents through multiplication and division, addition and subtraction, the base number remains the same, so... do you have any idea why your problem is wrong?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i dont :/. im not good with math

OpenStudy (ghostgate):

Alright, for instance if you have (32)^2, what happens? It would become 32 x 32, right? Which results in being 1,024. Anyhow, if the problem was: (4^2)^2 it would be (4^2)(4^2) or (4^2 x 4^2), as I mentioned earlier, that would become addition so really: 4^2+2 = 4^4. Do you get it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea a little

OpenStudy (ali2x2):

So everything is worked out here? i can explain if needed.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i add up 4^2+2 = 4^4?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

FINALLY A PERSION THAT DOSENT TROLL :D

OpenStudy (ali2x2):

LOL :P

OpenStudy (ali2x2):

Ok so look.

OpenStudy (ghostgate):

Okay, so for the original problem: (2^-5)^? - So how many times should (2^-5) have to multiply against itself to get 2^-15?

OpenStudy (ghostgate):

Also, what do you mean by "Troll"? We aren't supposed to give the answers immediately, which I would have before I got suspended.

OpenStudy (ali2x2):

\[2^-5 = -10\]

OpenStudy (ali2x2):

@Ghostgate Correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what i mean by troll is people come on here and make fun of me bully me and get me suspendd becase i fight back. and you two are the first who havent done that

OpenStudy (ali2x2):

So if 2^-5 = 10 and we need to find an equal value of 2^-15 (-30) so the exponent is 3 because 2^-5 = -10^3 = -30.

OpenStudy (ghostgate):

@MariahDimond Well you're welcome, I'm not here to make fun of people, I'm here to help. ;) - Anyhow, so let's think of the problem this way: Ignore the '2', let's just focus on the exponents: What times -5 = -15?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3 * -5

OpenStudy (ghostgate):

Alright, so with that in mind, that would mean you would have -5 + -5 + -5 which equals -15? So, if you have 3 digits there, you would have: (2^-5)^? - You just listed the number, so what is the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its 2^-5 *15?

OpenStudy (ghostgate):

No, the answer would be: (2^-5)^3 - The reason is, is because that equals: (2^-5)(2^-5)(2^-5) which reduce to: 2^-5+-5+-5 -> 2^-5-5-5 which equals 2^-15. Do you get it? Or do I need to explain it further?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i get it :) thanks

OpenStudy (ghostgate):

You're welcome! I'm glad I could help! ;) - Have a great rest of your day! {---Ghostgate---}

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Ghostgate well i dont but i didnt want to say it to everyone

OpenStudy (ghostgate):

Oh, that's alright, if you want I can try to explain it through messages.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (ghostgate):

Alright, so we should start with the top: 5^-6 * 5^2 - Alright, based off of what I said, what would this be, multiplication turns to addition for exponents, so...

OpenStudy (ghostgate):

@MariahDimond So, what would be the result of: 5^-6 * 5^2?
