A segment with the endpoint X(-6,2) and Y(-1,-3) is rotated 90 degrees about the origin. What are the coordinates of X' and Y'? 1- X' (-1,-3) Y'(-6,2) 2- X' (2,6) Y' (-3,1) 3- X' (-2,-6) Y' (3,-1) 4- X' (6,-1) Y' (1,3) Thank you for helping, and looking. Thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I believe it is #3. Don't know though?!?!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can rotate the endpoints individually

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are we rotating clockwise or counterclockwise

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am so confused on this question.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a point M(h,k) rotated clockwise 90 degrees ends up as M'( k, -h )

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it #4 then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

clockwise X(-6,2) - > X ' ( 2,6) counterclockwise X(-6,2) - > X ' ( -2,-6)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am still confused a little?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

clockwise 90 degrees X(-6,2) - > X ' ( 2,6) Y(-1,-3) -> Y' (-3, 1) counterclockwise 90 degrees X(-6,2) - > X ' ( -2,-6) Y(-1,-3) -> Y' ( 3, -1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer depends on whether the 90 degrees is rotated clockwise or anticlockwise

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It didn't say in my workbook.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It says counterclockwise. Sorry
