how are integers and rational numbers different?!
Integers: Whole numbers and the opposites of whole numbers. Rational Numbers: Numbers that can be written as a fraction (or ratio) of two integers. Irrational Numbers: Numbers that cannot be written as a fraction of two integers and are on the number line.
Integers are whole numbers like 1 and -1. Rational/Irrational Numbers are like decimals or fractions (.5 or 1/2).
yea but whats differenet?
3/4 is rational, has the form a/b and can't be written as an integer. However, 4/2 can be written as an integer. In other words, every integer can be written in rational form, but not all rational numbers can be written as integers.
Integers are any number on a number line . Rational Numbers can be any number written as a fraction. Irrational numbers cannot be a fraction Hope this helps :)
@nightcore144 You need to be careful with definitions of terms. An integer is on the number line just like a rational number or an irrational number. All real numbers are on the number line. That means that not all numbers on the number line are integers. An integer is a whole number, which includes zero, and the negatives of the whole numbers. A rational number is a number that can be written as a fraction of integers.
