OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know what an outlier is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no +peachpi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

an outlier is a number that's a lot higher or lower than the other numbers in the data. When you have an outlier that's higher than the rest of the numbers, it causes the mean to be larger, so the mean won't represent the data as well. Basically the opposite is true if an outlier is too low. Look at your list of numbers and see if there is a number that's significantly more or less than the others.
