( 2 owl bucks and medal) Help? Question:http://prntscr.com/8wh5i9 Page 24:http://prntscr.com/8wh56y

OpenStudy (ghostedly):

What grade are you in?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9th , I get confused by this stuff :P

OpenStudy (ghostedly):

@jim_thompson5910 is the man! xD

OpenStudy (ghostedly):

Oh, he's already here.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I'm not exactly sure what they are looking for, but another way to write the perimeter is to add up all 4 sides, so we just add up s four times Perimeter = (side1) + (side2) + (side3) + (side4) P = s + s + s + s If we simplify things we end up with 4s like they got on page 24

OpenStudy (anonymous):

heres the full thing if you need it http://prntscr.com/8whcgj

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I'm guessing you already have the one with "-3a" already done?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

maybe another way is to use P = 2*(L+W) which is the perimeter of a rectangle. All squares are rectangles, so this is valid. In this case, L = s and W = s, so P = 2*(L+W) P = 2*(s+s) P = 2*(2s) and simplifying that last equation gives P = 4s like before

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks that cleared things up for me lol (:

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you're welcome

OpenStudy (ghostedly):

Wouldn't expect any less from jim. Good job!
