How do you multiply and divide negative integers

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Same as positive numbers. Just watch the sign.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If there's 2 negative signs, it's positive, if there's one of each, it's negative. Otherwise, it's exactly the same.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So -6/-6 is positive

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yea, then you just answer like you normally would.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If there's two negative, it's the same process as two positive.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Fractions have three signs. \(\pm\dfrac{\pm}{\pm}\). Change any two and nothign happens. \(-\dfrac{2}{3} = -\dfrac{-2}{-3} = \dfrac{-2}{3} = \dfrac{2}{-3}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok. So -6/-6=1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Idk if we're allowed to give straight answers, but as an example, -1358/-1358 is 1.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm just taking math notes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, well that's basically the process. Just be cautious if there's something like -6/3, because that's -2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So -6/3=-2 and 6/-3=-2 or just 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If either is negative, the answer is negative.

`How do you multiply and divide negative integers` multiply and divide like normal with 2 positive integers. Then you use these rules * If the two numbers are the same sign (both positive or both negative) then the answer is positive * If the two numbers differ in sign (one is positive, the other negative), then the result is negative

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks. I'm trying to learn what we are doing in class before we do it so I can get good grades

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nice, that's a pretty good habit. Wish I could be that determined...Anyways, good luck with that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Closing this question

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

\(\dfrac{Dog}{Dog} = 1\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No. Just no.
