How to find a missing value in the probability distribution table without a formula, mean, variance, and the table doesn't include all the values of x? Thank you!

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

if one value is missing, you can add up the other values and then subtract that result from 1 why does this work? because all probabilities of a probability distribution must add to 1

number 7

i know they all add up to one, but the P(x=19) threw me off

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

x = 19 is NOT defined in the probability table, so P(x = 19) is equal to 0. The probability of x being 19 is 0 (ie it's impossible for it to happen)

Ohhhh okay thank you!

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

no problem
