Here's the question.|dw:1446151583461:dw|
do you know that -6/-6 is 1?
A. -18 B. -2 C. 2 D. 18
\[\frac{-6}{-6}=1 \\ \text{ so } \frac{-6}{-6}b =(1)b=b \\ \text{ so this should be a hint to you to multiply both sides by -6 }\]
what is your slope in the equation?? u tell me
My answer is C. Am I correct, or need to change anything before I continue?
Forgot to add my answer in there ^.^;
have you tried applying the hint I gave?
No, I just was asking if my answer was correct since I did the work, but if it isn't I'll reconsider it.
ok let me know if you need help multiplying -6 on both sides
So, my answer is incorrect, RIGHT?
well you could multiply both sides by -6 to find out I don't see why you haven't done this yet
6x6 is 36.
why are you doing 6 * 6 though
Because that's what you're asking me to do? o_o Never mind, I'll go somewhere else for help~
I asked you to multiply -6 on both sides because you equation is \[\frac{-1}{6} x=3\]
your equation is not -6x=3
@JokerSmart You are giving up way too soon. If you were having trouble multiplying both sides by -6... I could have helped you.
the correct answer is a because -1/6 x -18 = 3
\[\frac{-1}{6} x=3 \\ \text{ multiply both sides by -6 } \\ -6 \cdot \frac{-1}{6} x= -6 \cdot 3 \\ \text{ notice the left hand side is } \frac{6}{6}x=1x=x \\ \text{ so you have } x=-6 \cdot 3 \]
