1. Well the size of the US has increased ever since it was created. The US started as 13 colonies and now the US has expanded coast to coast which Americans believed to be the manifest destiny (look that up if you don't know what that is) 2. The population of the US has also increased as the US has expanded. 3. In the 1880's the automobile was invented which drastically changed daily life. People could now travel much further. Because of this, gas stations and hotels were being built. People had more time to travel because time-saving appliances were being invented like the dishwasher. 4. The industrial revolution greatly changed the US. The US started becoming less rural and more urban. Powered machinery and mass production became common. The steam engine changed transportation. People could go further faster. 5. At first only land owning white males could vote. Later people who immigrated to the US could vote as well as black people (I hope that's not offensive in any way). There were voting laws that were created to prevent black people from voting. You had to be a 3rd generation American (or something) and if you weren't you had to pass a very specific voting test (This was an extremely challenging test! I wasn't able to pass it when I tried) This test no longer exists because it was deemed unconstitutional by the US Supreme Court. Eventually women also earned the right to vote.
