lol it was at least like 10 min hahahha
OpenStudy (anonymous):
okay fine 10 years xD haha but what do you know about transformations?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
lol
OpenStudy (anonymous):
and ik nothing :/
OpenStudy (anonymous):
if i were to tell you the transformation were to be:
x,y --> x-10, y+3
would you be able to apply that to the trapezoid?

im confused sorry i have no clue about this lol
OpenStudy (anonymous):
haha thats fine, ill draw it out hold on :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok
OpenStudy (anonymous):
sorry i hed it wrong x,y --> x+13, y-3 lol
OpenStudy (anonymous):
lol its ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok after that whats next?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so for this transformation we add 13 to the original x coordinate and subtract 3 from the original y coordinate as i did in the picture
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok i sorta get it but how can i do that for the top shape?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oh ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):
two ways:
we simply can start at each point and count over to its new point,
or we can take our original points and add and subtract the transformation fro m the originals :)
chose what you would like to do..
OpenStudy (anonymous):
second choice sounds easier lol
OpenStudy (anonymous):
haha theyre both easy lol, so lets pull out the original points from the graph, what are the points for the trapezoid??
OpenStudy (anonymous):
umm TUVS?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes, pull the (x,y) coordinates, do you know how to do that?

no i dont
OpenStudy (anonymous):
can you show me?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
sure :) so for point U we have (2,6), so that is point U.... do you understand?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok let me see hang on
OpenStudy (anonymous):
alright ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok how did you get that?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
the point goes over 2 on the x axis and up 6 on the y axis
OpenStudy (anonymous):
sorry math just doesnt process through my brain lol
OpenStudy (anonymous):
its fine :)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
oooohhhh ok i get it now lol

i have to leave in a few so yea, no rush but just letting you know :) but yes that is how you find the points (ordered pairs)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so now find the other points
OpenStudy (anonymous):
noooo lol ok can you help me real quick to find them? like see if im doing it right?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yes! lol yes i will help as long as i can haha
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so find the points and post them

OpenStudy (anonymous):
what point is that?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i tried to get to point T? lol omg i cant believe i cant get this hahaha
OpenStudy (anonymous):
haha its quite alright but no point T (5,5)
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ugh ok see idk how you got 5,5 lol

so i can know how to do it lol

ordered pairs are always (x,y):
U(2,6)
T(5,5)
S(3,2)
V(1,4)
so for U, 2 is our x and 6 is our y
so to get the prime (the new points) for this transformation, we add 13 to the x-intercept, and subtract 3 from the y-intercept
OpenStudy (anonymous):
understand?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
why 13 and why 3?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
because that is our transformation
OpenStudy (anonymous):
is that for every problem?

transformation:
x,y --> x+13, y-3
and yes you apply for every point
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ill do the first one :)
so:
U (2,6) --> (2+13, 6-3)
U (2,6) --> (15,3)
so our new point (U') is 15,3
OpenStudy (anonymous):
@MariahDimond think you sould help her? its transformations

im sorry to leave you but i must go now :( @iloveyou;*
