What number would I need to multiply the first equations by to get the x's to add out? I got 6 for number 1 is this correct? 1.) 2x+3y=8 -6x+4y=11 2.)3x-y=3 -2x+2y=6

If you multiply the first equation by 6, you will get: 12x + 18y = 48 No way are the x terms going to add out when the second equation x term is -6x 12x - 6x do not add to 0.
