This pulley A) has a mechanical advantage of 1 and does not make work easier. B) has mechanical advantage of 2 and reduces the force needed to lift an object. C) has a mechanical advantage of 2 and changes the direction of the applied force. D) has a mechanical advantage of 1 and changes the direction of the force needed to lift an object.
Here is the pulley: http://usatestprep.com/modules/gallery/files/6/602/602.jpg

I don't know anything about mechanical advantage, but I suppose this entire structure would collapse since it goes against the fact that you need two equal amounts of force or pressure on either side in order to keep a balance, and due to the fact that this diagram appears (to me, at least) to state that the rope or line holding the pulley has a force of only 50 N, while the weight has a force of 100 N. 50 N is indeed half of 100 N, so perhaps that is where the mechanical advantage comes into play, for example perhaps the weight has an advantage of 2, since it is twice the N of the pulley. Just a hypothesis, sorry for not knowing 100% D:
I would say that the pulley does not make the work easier since it does not have enough strength to hold the weight.
