Can someone explain to me the differences between Complex sentences, Compound sentences, Simple sentences, and Compound-Complex sentences?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@KyanTheDoodle do you have time to help me real quick?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A complex sentence joins an independent clause with one or more dependent clauses. The dependent clauses can go first in the sentence, followed by the independent clause, as in the following: Tip: When the dependent clause comes first, a comma should be used to separate the two clauses

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay and a compound sentence is the one with the comma right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

And a complex sentence is made of 1 independent clause and unlimited dependent clauses.

OpenStudy (kyanthedoodle):

And a compound-complex sentence is two or more independent clauses with one or more dependent clauses.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, so in the sentence "After all, I have always been a night owl, and I prefer moonlight to sunlight." That would be a compound sentence right?
